What do you Think of the Canon 50D?

Canon announced the 50D today (hands on preview at DPReview). I’ve never owned any of the 20D/30D/40D line of SLRs, but this camera looks pretty nice. I’m still not sure if I will buy one–I love shooting wide and I’m a bit spoiled on the 5D’s full-frame sensor.

How about you? Do you 30D or 40D owners plan to upgrade?

  1. If I upgraded every time Canon put out a new camera, I’d be dead broke. (: I have both the 20D and 40D and they work pretty well.

  2. I love my 40D, I won’t be considering an update until the 5D replacement comes out :)

  3. Eek! I just got a 40D six months ago — but seriously - when is Canon bringing out the 5D upgrade? They’ve been keeping this one of the lowdown for quite a while…

but I am happy with my 40D :)

  5. I am excited about the new 50D. I’ve been wanting to purchase a higher resolution camera for a little while now and the cost of a pro camera is out of budget right now. I shoot alot of sports and I can really get excited about the bump into ISO 6400 where alot of gymnasiums are so dark. Most of them say no to flash. I also shoot low light candle wedding ceremonies and I feel that the ISO range will help with alot of underexposed photo capture. I could use a tripod but when you’re shooting at one half a second eveyone gets blurred out even at 1600 ISO. Overall, I’m going to enjoy working this camera to it’s fullest potential.
